This Strat-O-Matic league was formed MANY years ago and has had many members that have come and gone.  Only 1 year ago the league had a roster of 5 managers: Johnny "The Dynasty" Jones, Jimmy "I Can Lead the League  in Pitching and Hitting, but Can't Finish #1" Ange, Tom "Yeah Right, Giambi Hit a HR, but Not Sosa; NO Of Course not.  I Just Don't Get It " Nicely, Chuck "I Just Have to Draft the Big Prospect" Galderise, and Dustin "I Can't Show Up, Now I'm Contracted" Brittingham.  In case you did not figure it out, Dustin has been kicked out of the league for inactivity.
League News

This season was quite frustrating for the Tidewater Rebels as they got edged out of the playoffs by the OVER-achieving Dukes.  However, if there was a bright spot they did own the 2nd place Freaks  as they compiled a 16-11 record against them.  The Freaks came up ONLY 1 game short of 1st Place and the ever-evolving Dynasty known as City Point.  The Gorillas had a successful year making the playoff and even surprising the 2nd place Freaks in winning the 1st round of the playoffs in a tight 7 game series.  You would think a manager would be happy making it to the playoffs and the World Series, but Manager Tom Nicely walked away from the World Series a little upset and could not figure out how Bonds and Co. could hit HR's but not his team when it was needed.  However, it was a very successful year all-around for all teams except for the UNDER-achieving Rebels.

DRAFT UPDATE

The 2002 year end draft was held on 10/4/02.  Coach Galderise got the lucky draw of the #1 pick and was in desperate need of a SP.  However, he gambled and went with the dynamite closer Cordero from TEX.  The gamble paid off and he came out looking like a genius as with the #8 selection he was still able to get Rodrigo Lopez SP from Baltimore.  Coach Ange had a successful draft as he stated "I got the only player I really wanted to have out of the draft in prospect Victor Martinez."  Coach Nicely filled out his 2B position with the nice additions of Mark Bellhorn and Adam Kennedy.  And of course Coach Jones took some RP and other role players, because let's face it the man is just loaded at every position.
